Himalayan Taekwon-Do Team
Head Instructor: Raju Gadtaula V Dan
Mr. Gadtaula has over 20 years of Taekwon-Do experience. He is currently a 5th dan black belt martial artist. Mr. Gadtaula has competed in numerous Taekwon-Do tournament with the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF). He participated in the 2002 world Taekwon-Do Championship Athens Greece, the 2005 World Taekwon-Do Championship, Sydney Austrilla, and in the 2006 Hongkong World Taekwon-Do Championship. Mr. Gadtaula also was a competitor at the 2007 World Championship in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Mr. Gadtaula currently manages and is the Head Instructor of the Himalayan Taekwon-Do Club.
Gibson Dhakal
With over a decade of experience in Himalayan Taekwondo, Gibson, a First Degree Black Belt, is a secondary instructor and avid competitor. He has competed in 6 tournaments ranging from local to international levels, while earning 11 total medals (5 Gold, 5 Silver, 1 Bronze). More than competition, Gibson carries a strong foundation of the fundamentals in Taekwondo and is dedicated to sharing this knowledge with junior belts. He helps students practice patterns, sparring techniques, and key skills required, both during and in preparation for competition. Gibson is extremely passionate about Taekwondo, both as a fierce competitor himself and as an instructor; he understands the critical role martial arts plays in building confidence, discipline and mental resilience.
Pradhyotan Niraula
Pradhyotan (Prad Niraula), age 19, is a First Dan Black belt who began his taekwondo journey 10 years ago. He has participated in many Taekwondo competitions from Provincial all the way to International Competitions. He has honed his strengths in Patterns, with fluid fundamental movements, striking techniques, and immense confidence. Additionally, his rapid speed in the ring make him a fearsome competitor when sparring. His most noteworthy competitions include, 2x Gold at the CAN-AM International tournament, 1x Gold and 1x Silver at the 2018 CTFI tournament, with 1x Gold and 1x Silver at the Alberta Provincial championships to top it off. So far he has a total of 15 medals from various competitions. Currently, he continues to train at Himalayan Taekwondo, improving his skills and teaching aspiring students. His current goal is to reach the rank of Second Dan Black Belt and reach further heights.
Krisha Subedi
Krisha Subedi (16) is a first dan black belt with almost a decade of Taekwon-Do experience. She has competed at both provincial and national levels, including the 2020 Alberta Provincial Championship, the 2023 Canadian National Championship in Vernon, BC, and the 2025 Alberta Provincial Championship. Through these competitive experiences, she has grown more confident in herself and her ability to perform under pressure. Her Taekwon-Do journey has helped her develop a strong foundation in patterns, sparring, and overall technical execution, along with discipline, perseverance, and many other tenets both inside and outside the dojang.
Bhabis Lamichhane
Bhabis Lamichhane is a first dan black belt that has been a part of Himalayan Taekwon-Do since the very first day. Bhabis has participated in various Taekwon-Do tournaments with the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF). Notably, he participated in the 2019 Canadian National Taekwon-Do Championship in Regina, Saskatchewan, and the 2019 Western Taekwon-Do Championship in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Bhabis was also a competitor at the Apollo Taekwon-Do Alberta Provincial Tournament in 2024. Bhabis has gotten many medals from all tournaments and continues to attend classes every week. Bhabis is 18 years old and helps around at Himalayan Taekwondo by teaching younger belts.
Arik Paudel
With more than ten years of training and competitive experience, Arik Paudel is a committed ITF Taekwondo black belt. He has taken part in a number of regional, provincial, and national competitions. One of his most worthy accomplishments was in Regina in 2023, where he won one gold and one bronze medal in sparring and patterns, respectively, demonstrating his capacity to perform well under pressure against high-level competitors. Arik is renowned for his well-rounded fighting style, which combines excellent awareness, controlled aggression, and technical accuracy. He has developed into a well-rounded martial artist who gets better every time he competes, thanks to years of sparring, patterns, and tournament preparation. He approaches whatever he does with dedication, humility, and a strong work ethic, whether he is training or competing.
Priyal Gurung
Priyal Gurung (16) is a First Dan Black Belt in ITF Taekwon-Do with nine years of training experience. She represented her club at the 2023 ITF National Taekwon-Do Championship, gaining valuable experience competing at the national level. Through years of consistent training, Priyal has developed a strong foundation in patterns, sparring, and overall technical execution, along with discipline, focus, and perseverance. In addition to her own training, she actively assists with coaching younger students, helping train younger children and contributing positively to the learning environment at the dojang. Priyal continues to train regularly, striving to improve her skills, perform confidently under pressure, and grow as both a martial artist and a leader.
Aryan Bhattarai
Aryan Bhattarai (19) is a First Dan Black Belt with over 10 years of experience in ITF Taekwon-Do and a long-standing member of the Himalayan Taekwon-Do Club. Throughout his training, he has built a strong foundation in patterns, sparring, and overall technical execution. Aryan has competed at provincial and national-level ITF Taekwon-Do tournaments, earning multiple medals across these events, reflecting his consistency and dedication in competition. His experience spans several years of structured training and tournament preparation, allowing him to perform confidently under pressure. Aryan continues to train regularly, focusing on refining his technique, improving competitive performance, and contributing positively to the club environment through discipline, commitment, and work ethic.
Bibek Timilsina
Bibek Timilsina has nearly 9 years of Taekwon-Do experience. He is currently a 1st dan black belt martial artist. Mr. Timilsina has competed in several provincial-level Taekwon-Do tournaments, where he has achieved multiple gold and silver medal placements. Through years of consistent training and competition, he has demonstrated strong technical skill, discipline, and dedication to the art of Taekwon-Do.
Aarambha Kharel
Aarambha Kharel (16) has around 10 years of Taekwon-Do experience and currently holds the rank of Junior Black Belt. He trains in ITF Taekwon-Do and has developed a strong foundation in patterns, sparring, and self-defence. He assists with teaching junior belts and helps during belt tests, demonstrating leadership and responsibility. He has competed at the provincial and national levels, earning multiple medals, including gold in sparring and silver in patterns at the 2019 Canadian National Taekwon-Do Championship, gold and bronze at the 2019 Alberta Taekwon-Do Championship, bronze at the 2021 Kamloops Western Taekwon-Do Championship, and silver at the 2023 Canadian National Taekwon-Do Championship.
Aayush Ojha
Aayush Ojha is a member of the Himalayan Taekwondo Club and has been training in Taekwondo for 6–7 years. He is a recently promoted 1st Dan Black Belt and a dedicated student at the dojo. Aayush began his journey in Taekwondo at a young age, quickly developing a passion for the sport and a strong foundation in discipline, focus, and technique. He has competed in several ITF Taekwondo tournaments, including the Canadian National Championships and the ITF Western Championships in 2019, the Alberta Cup in 2019, and the Alberta Provincial Championships in 2020, earning gold, silver, and bronze medals. He continues to train consistently, striving to refine his skills, challenge himself, and grow both as a martial artist and as an individual.
